O'Dowd Sends Condolences to Family

"Its is deeply saddening to learn that the death of 15 month old Cameron Tindale could potentially have been avoided."

"The 7 week delay for the Southern Health Trust to inform the family that abnormalities had been detected by a previous test is unacceptable.

"It had to have been particularly distressful for the family for the test results informing Mr and Mrs Tindale that Cameron was at a higher risk of suffering further seizures and recommending an another test arrived on the day of his funeral, in the midst of their grief."

"This should not have happened, and the Tindales should have received the test results as soon as they were available.

"I am aware the Trust have said that systems have been overhauled so that children's test results are delivered much more quickly. The Trust need to ensure the system now delivers Children's test results as soon as they are available.

"I offer my deepest sympathies to the Tindale family circle. A situation like this can never be allowed to happen again."
