Sinn Féin Councillor Liam Mackle has called on the Council to endorse Sinn Féin's response to the Councils community plan and support more investment in rural roads and street lighting

Published: 7 June, 2018

Cllr Mackle said as part of our comprehensive response to the Councils community plan we have called for more investment in Rural Roads, footpaths and street lighting.

"Rural roads continue to be under invested in and we would call on the Council to support investment in resurfacing and repairs of rural roads.

"Rural communities also deserve access to safe roads including a proper footpath and cycle network.

"Street lighting in rural communities also remains a matter of concern with poor lighting adjacent rural facilities such as GAA and other sports clubs etc.

"We recently once again highlighted the poor lighting outside the Wolfe Tones club in Derrymacash and there are many more examples across the Borough.

Concluding Cllr Mackle said:

"If the Council were to include our call for more investment in rural roads and street lighting in its community plan it would be huge step forward for our rural dwellers.
